Rensselaer Outdoor Pursuits and experiential Education (ROPE)

About ROPE:

The ROPE program provides and promotes adventure-based outdoor opportunities and experiential learning environments, emphasizing on outdoor recreation, experiential education, environmental awareness, personal challenge, social development, a sense of place, and fun.

ROPE facilitates three adventure-based trips planned for the student body.  These trips give students the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities, and are open to all skill levels; some specifically geared toward the novice.  ROPE facilitates a wide variety of trips in a vast array of locations within New York and the Northeast states.  These activities include hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, caving, kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing, and more! Trips will be run throughout the school year, as well as the summer sessions, in order for students to gain a full appreciation for the outdoors and the benefits derived from natural settings.

The Rensselaer Outdoor Pursuits and experiential Education program is part of the Outdoor Programs division of the Rensselaer Union, and is dedicated to the advancement of student well-being through physical activity, student wellness, and a deeper affinity to nature through experience-based outdoor, adventure, and environmental education.  ROPE is designed to offer undergraduate and graduate students at RPI opportunities for outdoor recreation, education, and leadership experiences through weekend and week long outdoor adventure trips, as well as recreation workshops, clinics, and the climbing wall.
